Custom Post Type¶
Herodotus registers its own Custom Post Type: herodotus_post.
Why a Separate Post Type?¶
Your regular WordPress posts (blog articles, news, etc.) remain completely untouched. Herodotus events live in their own space, with their own:
- Admin menu
- List table with custom columns
- Date metabox
- Category taxonomy
- Archive and single templates
Technical Details¶

What This Means for You¶
- Herodotus events do NOT appear in your regular blog feed.
- They do NOT interfere with your blog's RSS feed.
- They have their own URL structure:
yoursite.com/herodotus/event-slug/ - They have their own archive:
yoursite.com/herodotus/
Note: The CPT archive at
yoursite.com/herodotus/shows all published events using the standard WordPress loop — without filtering by today's date. To display only today's events, use the[herodotus]shortcode on a regular page instead.
